2010 Archdiocesan Stewardship Appeal

imageThe dinner, held at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, was attended by about 450 clergy, religious, and lay men and women representing parishes in the 19 vicariates of the archdiocese.
After the meal, his Excellency thanked all the attendees for their efforts, then inducted eight individuals into the Appeal Hall of Fame for their extraordinary work in fundraising.

The honorees, who ranged from volunteers to parish secretaries, included a woman who had placed 1,200 phone calls appealing to parishoners, and several parish members who had worked on their local projects and Archdiocesan appeals for 25, 30, and, in one case, 37 years.

“What a victory,” the Archbishop said that evening. “It could not have happened without all of you in this room.” He added that the archdiocese is deeply grateful for the money raised and intends to spend it “frugally and shrewdly, the way you want us to.”

He noted that, on top of a record year for the Stewardship Appeal, the people of the archdiocese also donated $1.9 million this year for earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
The archdiocese includes parishes in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, as well as Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester Counties.

Fr. Peter reminds parishoners that the Archdiocese is still accepting contributions to the 2010 Archdiocesan Stewardship Appeal.
